Nicolas Pirillo

Brunoise is a project around Nicolas Pirillo (Argentina) who plays the hang, an instrument from Switzerland created in 2000.

Nicolas Pirillo & his hands create a perpetual movement like a transe. The sound research around the instrument introduces a personnal approach finding riff's and grooves inspired from soufi till contemporary dance. Brunoise is an acoustic vibe, the true spirit of the hang, a pure and hypnotic musical language.

Influenced in the 90's by the Argentine punk-rock movement, Nicolas Pirillo leaves Argentina for Europe when he is 25 years old. Quickly confronted to this new economic reality, he starts to practice and play the hang in the street of Paris, London, Buenos Aires, Barcelona or Ibiza.

During 3 years, Nicolas Pirillo makes of the street his own stage opened to musical & human experiences. Practicing the hang there has become his new way of living.

In 2006, Quentin Dujardin, artistic producer discovers him in the street of Granada (Spain) playing the hang in the Albayzin & invites him to record in Belgium. The studio session catches the pure energy of the hang. Dominic Ntoumos (trumpet), Damien Libert (bouzouki & percussions), Jalal Asmar (voice) & Quentin Dujardin (bass, piano, acoustic guitars & bendir) are the very special guest's for that first album of Brunoise.
